Wavelength explores our limitless oceans and mysteries about what lies beneath the surface. We have explored less that 5% of our oceans and yet they cover more than 70% of our Earth’s surface. These bodies of water seem endless, which is reflected in the endless loop that is created within the video. The rearranged footage creates a sense of disorientation for the viewer, and a wonder where the waves begin and end. Thematically this work responds to the color Ultra Violet by thinking about our world and what is out there beyond us humans and what is bigger than us. Our oceans are much like the night sky, which is this largely unexplored void. Visually I use digital tools to shift the color of the ocean to an exact match of the ultra violet color. There is a gradient to the image, with the white peaks of the waves and white sun rays piercing through the ultra violet waters.
